National Night Out 2019

National Night Out 2019

We were there!

The recent National Night Out (NNO) events in Martinez were held at Les Schwab Tires and The Alhambra Valley Christmas Tree Farm, and in Pacheco at the Community Center. The NNO is an annual nation-wide event designed to bring the community and law enforcement together in a fun, family-friendly fair with the goal of building stronger relationships and safer neighborhoods.

Les Schwab

It was a pleasure to have the support of the Martinez Police who brought a good contingent. MPD also brought a K9 team, who treated us to a quick but energetic demo of the K9 capabilities including defending their Officer/Partner from aggression.

Contra Costa Transit Authority was there collecting input about our priority of needs for improving all forms of transit in the county.

The Les Schwab location had about 150-200 people during the event, including the Chief of Police and a number of City Leaders.

We enjoyed hot dogs and the music of The Killbillies. There were 10 CERT volunteers over the course of the evening. (Thank you!) We visited with more than 40 of our neighbors, and collected over 15 names of people who were interested in taking the CERT class.

Vicki and GwendaIn the past 4 years, we have won awards for our National Night Out event and I’m pretty sure we didn’t disappoint this year.  The event was a resounding success.

Local businesses, Government agencies, Non-Profit Organizations and volunteers worked to make it the largest National Night Out in Contra Costa County.

To top it off, the event proceeds benefit’s the Food Bank of Contra Costa-Solano. It felt like a local neighborhood family friendly event.

The Martinez Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) supported the event by handling the parking and first aid at the event.

We made it on the KRON 4 news that night! Check it out.
