The Importance of Being Prepared
Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care is an animal refuge in South Lake Tahoe. Recently, the Caldor Fire forced the center to evacuate and fortunately, the staff had a plan. They coaxed all their animals, from owls to porcupines, into transport crates and within an hour and a half they had evacuated all animals, all staff and all volunteers from the facility. The center’s evacuation plan was what ensured the safety of the staff and the animals in their care. Plan today for you, your family, and your pets! The lessons from our wildfire season are ones we all need to pay attention to.
