CERT Basic Training is 20 hours, and is offered in Martinez on Tuesday evenings or a Weekend Intensive. Feel free to bring your own lunch, snacks and water. The Class and instructors will be practicing social distancing and personal mask use is required.

We offer a training notebook during the first class. You can also find the entire CERT Training Manual online.

At the conclusion of the classes we offer a Training Review that covers medical triage and emergency medical, search and rescue with cribbing, and fire suppression.

If you wish to be sworn in as an official Martinez Disaster Service Worker (even if you were trained somewhere else), you’ll need to attend the Practical Disaster Exercise.

CERT Emergency Communications Training is for CERT graduates (and those currently enrolled in the Basic Training class) who want to learn how to properly operate FRS/GMRS radios for use in a drill or disaster response. The goal is to encourage all CERT members to learn the skills needed for proper radio operations. No need to register, just show up (with your radio(s) if you have them).
