Training Opportunities

CERT Basic Training is normally 20 hours, and is held in person. However, COVID-19 and subsequent safety rules have rewritten our normal procedures.

The State of California is working with the University of Utah to create a hybrid CERT learning environment with part of the training online and part in person (as local circumstances allow). We expect the in-person learning will be available as soon as circumstances permit.

Meanwhile, we’re offering our Personal Emergency Preparedness and our new Earthquake Hazard Mitigation (Secure Your Space) classes online. In partnership with the Contra Costa County Library, we’re also offering a weekly Lunch & Learn series on various short and timely topics.

For those who’d like the whole training in written form, FEMA offers the updated CERT Training Manual online.
