The Bay Area received a lot of rain this winter. The ground is still a bit soft, our hills are green and the weeds are sky high. Weed abatement date is June 4, 2023 for East, West and Central Contra Costa County. May is the month to prepare for fire season.

The season for wildfires is already upon us. Strong winds can make nearby neighborhoods as vulnerable as houses in a fire zone. We’re getting ready to help with weed abatement this year. With your help, we can make Martinez better prepared for the upcoming fire season.
Over the summer, several CERT teams have taken tours of potential wildfire trouble spots in a project with the Contra Costa County Fire Prevention District. This fascinating video explains how a wildfire is managed. We’re all hoping we won’t see this problem in our fair county anytime soon.
