Go Bags For You & Your Family
Think about what you would take if you had 15 minutes notice to leave your home. Now, what if you had just two minutes? If immediate evacuation is required remember The Six Ps. 1. People & pets. 2. Papers & phone numbers. 3. Prescriptions, vitamins & eye glasses. 4. Pictures & personal memorabilia. 5. Personal computer. 6. Plastic (credit cards & cash)

Avoid the panic – prepare!
Pack a Go Bag so you and your family can leave quickly without a panicked and frantic search for items to take with you. Pack a Go Bag for each member of your household and your pets! Use a duffle bag or backpack to hold your items. Keep your Go Bags in an easily accessible place. Always know where your keys, wallet, cell phone, charger and laptop are located and be ready to grab them on your way out. If this seems daunting, that’s because it is. Start with the essentials and build your kits over time and tailor them to your special requirements. Basics like water, non-perishable food, some cash, a flashlight, a warm jacket, and copies of important documents is a good start. Set a budget and gradually acquire items, utilizing resources like dollar stores, sales, and runs to the Big Box stores. Having the bare essentials ready to go is better than nothing. It is recommended to review your Go Bags every 6 months to remove expired items and refresh with new. Download the Go Bag checklist here or Listos Disaster Guide for more information. Want some help to break preparedness planning into manageable steps? We have a 12-Month Preparedness Guide you may download. It breaks down preparedness into steps and offers tips and reminders to keep you prepared.
