Zone MAR-E001 Evacuation Drill June 22, 2024

The City of Martinez will have an Evacuation Drill for Zone MAR-E001 in the morning of June 22, 2024. This will be the first evacuation drill held in the City and all residents will play a role in making this drill a success. Download the Evacuation Flyer here. This drill will be held for the most Northwest portion of the city; selected because of its low population density, high fire danger, and challenging roads. The goal of the evacuation drill is to ensure residents know what to do in the event of an emergency. In a situation where seconds count, planning and practice could potentially save lives and minimize damage.

Residents of Zone MAR-E001 will receive information pertaining to their role in the drill, evacuation drill details, maps and other helpful information. Participation is voluntary.
Participants will evacuate by car, or foot after getting the alert to do so. They will proceed to the Evacuation Assembly Area at the Martinez City Hall Complex.
At the Evacuation Assembly Area, drill ‘evacuees’ will participate in a quick debriefing about their experience.
Participants will be joined by The Red Cross, County Animal Control, MPD, Con Fire, Genasys, CERT, and others at the Evacuation Assembly Area.

The community should expect some downtown traffic disruptions during the drill evacuation, and the Martinez Police Department and others will be on hand to help traffic direction. The drill will start at roughly 9am and all participants should be at the assembly area by 10am. All residents are welcome to drop by the Evacuation Assembly Area. This drill is tremendously important to the entire community and the Martinez Police Department hopes to conduct drills for each zone in the future.
