Wildfires are, by their very nature, unpredictable. Wind moves embers and sparks long distances, igniting trees, grasses, and buildings. Is your home really at risk? The nonprofit First Street Foundation has released a tool that home owners may use to see their wildfire risk. Visit the data set for Martinez at: riskfactor.com/city/martinez/646114_fsid/fire. Using their tool, you enter a zip code and calculate risk to that area. The site is free to use.

Overall, Martinez has a major risk of wildfire…There are 12,664 properties that have some wildfire risk over the next 30 years.

The California Public Utilities Commission worked with CAL FIRE and others to develop a Fire-Threat Map of California. The map shows places with a high risk of wildfires that could put people and property in danger.
