Martinez CERT Annual Report – 2019

Martinez CERT Annual Report – 2019

We had a great year in 2019, as reported by our Director Brian Lindblom to the City of Martinez and our Police Department.

A few of the highlights:

  • 54 students completed the Basic Academy Training, and 29 of them were sworn in as Disaster Service Workers. Four new Instructors were trained, bringing our total to 20. Wow, we have a very active and supportive community!
  • We offered 10 special continuing education classes, and we participated in two final training exercises held jointly with students from Martinez, Concord, Antioch, Pittsburg, and Brentwood.
  • Several of our volunteers responded to a Mutual Aid request in Butte County for post-fire support.
  • This was our third year of fire prevention activities, and our second year as a Firewise Community.
  • Many of us supported a long list of community events, including fairs and parades, demonstrations, and event safety support.
  • We held three communications exercises last year. Knowing what’s going on is key to disaster response. One of our exercises resulted in a nice Certificate of Recognition from Assemblymember Tim Grayson.
