A story of emergency response and basic first aid from our friend Rusty, an early Martinez CERT member who recently moved away. “What a Friday night! We were finishing up after dinner when a frantic ring at our door bell caused me to rush out. A lady from next door was yelling for help!”

Our two-day Critical Incident Stress Management class was great. We learned a set of procedures that can help de-stress the first responders in emergency or disaster situations. As always, the first step is to observe and listen to what’s going on. This is called “developing situational awareness.” We hope to be using these tools and techniques with others in the future.

Join us on Aug 4 at 7pm in the small parking lot at Las Juntas Elementary School for a basic primer on Home Fire Safety. Our District 5 Coordinator Milagros Juan-Ojermark will host Julie Ormerod, from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District at this event.
